Reporting

In an effort to localize the war between Russia and Ukraine, I wrote a feature piece on two different people. The first was a Northwest student from Ukraine, and I wrote about what it was like being away from his family and home while this was happening.  The second was a lady who lived in Ukraine who gave a first-hand look at what living through a war is like.  This won first place in news writing at the Missouri College Media Association.

I did an in-depth look at Northwest's Recycling Center and  the other sustainability programs on campus. That day, I look a tour of the facility and met multiple different employees to get the full scope of the space and the efforts in place.  It uses copy, photo, video and infographics to tell the story.

For this story I talked with our associate circuit judge and a representative from a behavioral health facility to talk about alternative treatment programs. This was published in our mental health special issue.

This story is a part of ongoing coverage of Northwest's energy and infrastructure problems.  This is a look into the largest capital request project in Northwest's history.

After developing a rapport with Sunrise Dispensary in Maryville, I was offered the opportunity of visiting its grow facility in Macon, Missouri. This is a two-part look into both the legalization of recreational marijuana and the way the plant is grown and harvested.

For the midterm election issue, I wrote this story over all the statewide candidates students and people in the community would see on the ballot  the following week.

demolition.jpeg

There have been big plans for Northwest to start demolition on buildings, and this is the first outline of what those projects were going to look like. This is a timeline and explanation of "downsizing" different buildings on campus.

This is an opinion column I wrote about what it is like to love someone who suffers from addiction.
